Almost a Review: X-Men 3
May. 27th, 2006 12:13 pmI didn't hate it. But it was as I expected from the trailers: a big full of action summer blockbuster. It suffers from kick it up yet another notch syndrome. I guess the thinking in Hollywood is that sequels can't work unless they have even bigger special effects than the previous movie. And the motivations seemed weird. In the second movie Magneto had an understandable and even slightly seductive motivation. In this one I was often left feeling that his brain had been replaced by Joseph Stalin's. The excuse to have a big showy battle with special effects seemed really thin.
If it had not been for friends going I would not have gone to this movie. I would have been perfectly happy waiting for it on DVD, as I would for Pirates otC 2 after seeing the trailer.
