Cold Pasteurization
May. 11th, 2006 12:33 pmEven more so that stuff like beef, which I rarely eat, I wish cold pasteurization would be approved for use on fish so I could eat sushi with absolute confidence. Not that sushi is terribly dangerous, but there is the possibility that the fish could have one of those parasites that can also live in mammals and that does make me think twice about having it at times. But unlike just safe handling techniques to prevent bacteria cold pasteurization using gamma or x-rays would totally eliminate parasites. Of course the idiot technophobes who hate anything remotely nuclear want to prevent it ever coming into common use and have put up lots of roadblocks to approval on new foods. I mean god forbid that we should have a safe food supply using technology that is less dangerous than what is used now to prevent food spoilage.
