mishalak: A fantasy version of myself drawn by Sue Mason (Beautiful Dreamer)
I dreamed of something like a documentary about a man who wrote a book about the forms and styles of dictatorships. And he was in a country where the leader, Mr. Inani, had alienated part of his power base of white westerners and so was bringing in black militias to support his regime. Unfortunately the father and son leaders of one of these militias turned out to have been seriously harmed by Ingani's actions and so beat him to death in a very stylized way. I could see the son didn't like killing and eventually shot Mr. Ingani so that it would just be over. Then they told the author to go out and make an announcement, that he already knew the proper things to say, "Tragically the leader Mr. Ingani died tonight at 2:03am, a state of emergency has been declaired, etc.."

One of Mr. Ingani's personal guard was trying to get in just before the announcement was made and he broke down crying as it was. I don't know if he cared for the dictator or was mourning the end of his good thing. This was all taking place in a modern high-rise that looked somewhat like a 1970 condominium tower rather than a seat of government, but I suppose that perceptions of what is governmental may be different in other cultures.
