I've heard about these mythic boys who are just self-interested perfect guys with too much money that they spend on clothes, pedicures, and alcohol. Supposedly they fill up the Castro so much that any "real" gay guy cannot find a date there. And I've seen maybe a dozen since I started working in the Castro four months ago. Mostly in the bars I see the same middle aged drinkers working on their 4th beer of the night that you see everywhere in bars. The next most common bar denizens are the college aged guys out for fun with friends. There probably exist a few of them, but for the most part I think this is yet another myth started by bitter guys who got shot down by someone who they were really shallowly attracted to. Much like the straight guy myth of the frigid ice bitch that won't look beyond his ugly exterior to see the prince inside when they're just looking at her exterior and lusting.

In other news I tried to make a friend last night. It did not work out, but I had a nice conversation with Gill from Toronto. He looked lost when he came into Zig Zag on Castro street so I followed him out and went to have a cup of tea with him at Cafe Flore. He lives down in Fremont and I think we could have been friends, but I did not press him again when he decided to leave. Eh. I might try again tonight.
