Fremont to San Jose?
Aug. 29th, 2005 01:17 pmWell I just discovered something interesting. If I rode BART from all the way over here in SF to the other side of the bay and down to Freemont I would get there in about 52 minutes. That is shorter than the "baby bullet" on CalTrain not the least of which is because I can get directly to a BART stop in a 10-15 min walk. If there were someone going from Freemont to the BASFA meeting I could meet up with then it might actually be conceivable that I attend the occasional meeting.
Now to give a completely fair shake to CalTrain if I used the shortest possible route to the station it would take me about 35 minutes from here and then just under a hour to ride down on the "Baby Bullet" from 6:00pm to 6:59 in San Jose. And it is probably more likely that I could find someone willing to pick me up there than in Freemont. But still, it is an extra 15 minutes using MUNI minimum and then a long ride back as there are no fast trains after 6:45 going northbound.
All in all I think the Freemont option is the only reasonable way I could do the BASFA thing even occasionally. So things to do: pester BASFA to see if anyone might pick me up for a meeting on the 19th of September. (And if the BART link to San Jose on that side of the bay ever gets finished I'll be cooking with hydrocarbons!)
