New Zealand Invades!
Jan. 19th, 2005 07:24 amYes indeedy, the New Zealand mudsnails (Potamopyrgus antipodarum) have come to Colorado. They've been sighted in Boulder creek. Apparently instead of being a delicate creature, like many native creatures from islands, it is quite invasive and is pushing out the native snails of the West. Of course the wildlife managers are all worried and upset, though apparently there isn't much to be done. Hopefully some native wee beastie will adapt to eating them eventually.
