Privacy Policy
Sep. 15th, 2003 12:19 pmHey every website needs a privacy policy, right? So here's mine. If you use your real name in the publicly accessible part your livejournal I'm going to use your real name whenever I write something unless otherwise requested. I try to contact everyone I write about who is not on livejournal to see if they want a fannish name (pseudonym[1]) or if it is okay to use their given name. If you tell me at the time that something is private I'll keep it that way. If not I'm going to use my best judgement and everyone who knows me also knows how unreliable that can be. I will never sell your information, I won't knowingly pass it on to people who will spam or harass you. I'll do my best to make sure the people contacting me to contact you are cool folk. If I ever change my privacy policy I'll let everyone know via a link saying when I changed it and a general announcement.
Boy, I'm ever so much cooler than a corporation, no legalese and a clear and useful policy, inspired by a much less cool one I read at cub.com today.
[1] Heck I use one myself, going by Matthew Mishalak rather than my correct legal name online and among fans. I figure it is sort of a weak bit of privacy and makes me the only Mishalak anywhere as near as I can tell.
