Coated in Snow then Silly Games
Apr. 30th, 2005 11:55 pmThis morning I looked out my window and saw sunshine and Wizard of Oz style perfect clouds. And it also appeared to be, if not actually warm, quite nice enough for a walk. I, of course, took a shower and got ready to go out, a process that takes me no less than an hour. Well sometimes if I don't linger in the shower it will take as little as 35 minutes, but that's working at warp speed.
So an hour later (round about 11:20am) I headed out the door and found that it was much chillier than it appeared earlier. I didn't want to stop, but I did run back to get a further layer of coat over sweater. Instead of wisely returning home to huddle inside with tea after the warning of a few lonely snowflakes dancing out of the grey sky I kept right on walking.
I ended up in Englewood as it started to actually snow heavily and ducked inside the Army/Navy Surplus Store on Broadway, a place I actually intended to end up. Warming up I purchased two army surplus belt pouches I hope will be stylish enough to use with a variety of ensembles instead of having to cram wallet and keys into a pocket of my jeans where they tend to make me uncomfortable.
After lunch at a nearby Chipotle I was ready to bother my friend Rose (and anyone else I could reach on my mobile phone) to see if I could stop by for her game/creativity night. One light rail ride and then a pick up by Rose and I was actually inside where I should have been much earlier.
Many people, about 13, arrived after I did to play a game where everyone makes up cards to play. It's difficult to explain and pretty fun to play. Check out
armoire_man's explanation if you want to learn more about the 1000 blank cards game. I got thoroughly drunk on wine and had a grand time being silly with everyone else. After the game I watched Ice Skating with Rose, Timmy, and Mary and arrived home a short time ago.
I think I might still be drunk or at least quite sleepy.
