Random Ideas from Mishalak
Oct. 8th, 2004 03:06 pmIt is October, so I'm doing my Yuletide shopping now. Oh wait, I'm already done with family members except grandma. So I guess it is time to help other people shop for me and to find out what my friends want. So this preliminary type list is going to be worked over this weekend. On Monday I'll post an entry that will be open to anyone to reply to and to which I'll not get comments mailed to me so that I won't know what my friends are discussing until after the Yuletide.
Also I do have much of the media portions of this list on my Amazon wish list. I'm under Mishalak there as well.
Good ol' filthy lucre. The green always makes a nice gift that I can spend anywhere I want. If you want to be sure that I spend it on something frivolous you could get me a gift certificate to The Tattered Cover or Colorado Mills.
Books
·Fudoki by Kij Johnson (In hardback please!)
·Paladin of Souls by Lois McMaster Bujold (In hardback please!)
·How to Make Quality Liquers & Cordials at Home by Brent Huesers
(In any edition or condition, or even another book about the same subject.)
·Hellboy: Weird Tales, Vol. 1 by Mike Mignola
(Yes this is a paperback book, but you're more likely to find it in a comic store.)
Media Stuff
·The Adventures of Baron Munchausen DVD
·Interview with the Vampire DVD
(For some reason this still isn't part of my collection. Ahhhh!)
·The Name of the Rose DVD
·Near Dark DVD
·Hellboy DVD
(The Director's Cut would be especially cool, but any verson would be good.)
CDs
·Hellboy by Marco Beltrami (Yes this one is the CD.)
·Faith by The Cure
·Adventures of Baron Munchausen Soundtrack by Michael Kamen
·Past, Present And Future by Al Stewart
·AI: Artificial Intelligence: Original Motion Picture Score by John Williams
·History Repeating by Propellerheads
·To Whom It May Concern by Al Steward
(This one is expensive, I saw it on Amazon for $32. Would be major cool though.)
Random things to improve my life.
·A Palm with keyboard. Then I could write anywhere! Okay, okay this is mostly a pipe dream. I mean over $100 seems unreasonable for a gift.
·A little electric coffee grinder. I wouldn't actually use it for coffee, I'd be using it to more easily reduce my whole spices to powder.
·Outdoor speakers. I think it would be really cool to listen to my stereo in the shower. So I'm thinking given the moist environment that outdoor speakers would be best.
Clothing
·Regular black socks would be cool if you want to go the practical route.
Food!
·Honey is, as usual, greatly appreciated. I currently have Alpine Wildflower, Fireweed, Orange Blossom, Chestnut, Alfalfa, Buckwheat, Irish, Turkish, Thistle, and Huckleberry honey. Anything else would be cool!
·A bottle of something local is very nice. In Colorado wines I favor Carlson Vineyards Peach Wine, Colorado Cellars Port, and Redstone Meadery's line of meads.
·Loose leaf tea. Just about any kind would be cool.
So is there anything I should add to this list? Something you've noted that I actually need but don't have perhaps?
