Winter Fell
Sep. 10th, 2003 06:24 pmYesterday night winter arrived in Colorado. By my calculations this means that autumn in the high country lasted about 30 days. That sounds about right for my state. Snow is falling on the high passes and elevations above 2 miles. We have a lot of territory at such an altitude in Colorado. It looks like the fall will last a bit longer down here in Denver, though it only arrived 12 days ago. We might have another six weeks of moderate weather before we start getting snow. Though if past years are any measure it could be over in as little as two. We once had a blizzard on MileHiCon weekend in 1997. I hope that doesn't happen this year. Or if it does everyone knows to head to the hotel and don't go home! Find a place to crash is the best strategy when such things happen.

Date: 2003-09-10 08:00 pm (UTC)Denver, there's there occasional big storm that knocks down all the trees or closes the city for a couple of days, but then it all melts.
And in February it's balmy and springlike, much more pleasant than April, when it's cold and wintery.
Strange...
