So my understanding is it has figured out who shares my more unusual interests (I'd loved to have seen that list too) and found the interstes they share but I do not. Well fascinating.

Based on the lj interests lists of those who share my more unusual interests, the interests suggestion meme (fad) thinks I might be interested in
1. music score: 11 – This is a bit too general for me as an interest. I'm just not interested in all music, though I do like listening to a wide variety of types.
2. movies score: 10 –Ditto on the music thing. I mean nearly everyone likes some kind of movies. I've already got surreal movies down as an interest and though maybe I should add more.
3. cats score: 8 – I'm not big into pets, though I like cats better than some others. I don't mind them, but having one around would be more trouble that it is worth to me unless I had a big house and backyard.
4. computers score: 8 – Not into computers except at the black boxes that let me write.
5. sex score: 7 – Okay who doesn't like sex? And I don't have it every chance I get, so I can't see calling this an interest.
6. love score: 7 – Snerk.
7. rpgs score: 6 – Maybe I should have this one down even though I already have roleplaying games, it is just that I want my list to be useful. I'm into the tabletop type and not computer games and so I'd need to figure out what most people mean and that's like hard. Maybe I should do a poll.
8. erotica score: 6 – Okay maybe. Though not to the extent that I could name more than a few fan artists who do pictures of nekid guys.
9. art score: 6 – Way too broad and I'm not sure how much into art I am. At least art besides the writing.
10. rock music score: 5 – Maybe, though I'm mostly a classic rock type of guy when it comes to music and really most of my collection are scores and soundtracks.
11. children score: 5 – Oh I simply adore children. With butter.
12. psychology score: 5 – Eh. Not really is all I have to say.
13. philosophy score: 5 – Okay a real possibility here.
14. dancing score: 5 –Okay, just no.
15. parenting score: 5 – Nope.
16. politics score: 5 – No way. Maybe theory of politics or philosophy of politics, but not the practice in a million years.
17. science fiction conventions score: 4 – Repetitive. We should all pick one way to express our interest in cons. Hey looks like this one is more popular than sf conventions, I guess I'll switch those two out.
18. sf fandom score: 4 Just the opposite here. I'm keeping science fiction fandom.
19. cyberpunk score: 4 A bit, but not enough for an interest.
20. painting score: 4 – Nope.

This one just didn't cut it for me. I like cruising friends-lists-of-friends instead.

I wish there was a way to search for a certain attitude about life that catches my fancy, but interests lists are too crude for that.

Yeah, but the way a person lists things can give a strong clue. And this was an excuse for me to clean up my interests list. Get rid of sf whatever and use the more proper and useful science fiction whatever.

Maybe you should start a club. The RMoorman Philosophical Society and Marching Kazoo Band.

ROFL.

loved the "with butter" comment.

but I am forced to disagreed with you on the politics interest, o Former Dark Lord of .Chatter. Perhaps you are not interested in CURRENT politics, but you _are_ a political beast, sir.

And I have the .fnord posts from the Madness to prove it. <VEG>

How about "historical politics" then? You are quite correct that I'm interested, just not in current politics.

I actually stole the "With Butter" line from a Lenor comic. I like Lenor, she's twisted fun.

I'll still debate the historical, although that's a better fit.

you like observing the human beast and figuring out how it ticks and interacts. you also like poking it and observing the reactions and figuring out how to manipulate the reactions.

*a-hem*

In any case - that's politics by my definition. although the perversity of my mind admits it's a loose enough definition to apply to other things as well. Further deponent sayeth not.

Political history and political science perhaps? Not that it is a science, but that's what the academic version is called. Philosophy of politics would be more accurate, but sounds rather old fashioned. Personally I like old sounding terms like natural philosophy, but most people don't.

I don't color my hair - period. And if I were to do so I wouldn't choose a color the complete opposite of my natural color. I have a wig for that. ;)

That is exactly the trouble with that three-letter acronym in my opinion. Too many things it could mean. So I'm going to do a poll on if the interest should be called gaming, role playing, role playing games, role-playing, role-playing games, roleplaying, or roleplaying games.

When I did it, it spewed out interests, that by my best estimation, were already on my interest list.
