Moderate Monday

Well I was not as productive as I would have absolutely liked, but the day went all right. Today was Dave's birthday so I bought a cake, one that was rather too large upon reflection. However he did like it as it has about six layers and lots of chocolate. I came home with half of it so I will have to spread some around to other people.

I also splurged and bought orange juice. I felt like having some. Other than that I got the basic staples of onions, fruit, milk, and eggs. Oh yeah and some cheese to be a treat at some point.

All these items are waiting outside at this hour due to the fact that my refrigerator is off right now. Why? Well that's a third thing I'm inordinately pleased about. My freezer has been relieved of a great deal of its ice burden. I have one of those ancient refrigerators that has to be defrosted regularly. I should have done it a while ago but it is getting done now. I think I shall celebrate with a glass of orange juice. With vodka.

Tomorrow I shall get more job hunt stuff done and get back on getting this apartment cleaned up.

I've almost the same story with my refrigerator, a little cube 'dorm' one. With the weather below freezing, I stuck an ice chest outside and filled it with the fridge contents, then unplugged the fridge. My problem is that the seal is old and leaks some, so ice build s very fast, if the weather holds I'm going to repeat and put some weather stripping along the door to see if I can better the seal.

The ice doesn't build up very fast in my old one, it just is so much work to get it out that I am reluctant to do it.
