I didn't write about the best part of Friday. Though selling of the old car was very good it wasn't exactly full for mystery and magic.

The first wondrous thing of the day was the owl that made a leisurely turn right over the truck as my Dad and I left to go get shelves and what not. It looked to be so close that I could have reached out and touched it before it went gliding away between the pine trees around the family house. Then while on the beltway around Denver it happened again, with a hawk flying low over the river of traffic towards the city. Both were magnificent, but for me the owl was the more amazing. I think that may have been the first time I've seen an owl in flight outside of moving pictures.

After everything I was going to my apartment and for a few minutes the setting sun was behind some clouds, but there was an opening just below it that allowed the light out over one section of the mountains. The light looked like it was spilling out over each successively lower ridge in a waterfall of burning orange. The illusion was completed by the fact that the light was spilling out over one of lower sections of the mountains, it looked very much like a churning river spilling a load of gold from the land beyond the Neversummer Range onto the city and plains. I wished for my camera, but in a moment I knew it would have done me no good to have it since it looked so perfect for a total of about two minutes at the most. Not nearly enough time to get stopped and take a snapshot.
