Cooking & A Glass of Beer
Jul. 3rd, 2013 11:54 pmJust a really quick note. I made potato salad for only about the second time in my life tonight. For though I be a inhuman villain I am a patriotic American inhuman villain! And tomorrow is the 4th of July and I shall celebrate as any patriotic villain type human shaped creature will celebrate on such a day, in the land that I love. With all American food like potato salad, corn on the cob, and watermelon. I really ought to have made potato salad before this. It was easier than I expected and it tasted pretty darn good for not yet having had time for the flavors to meld and whatnot. I used Cook's Illustrated, but departed from their recipe by using a lot more red onion and celery, because there was no one there to stop me. And, yes, of course horrible creatures wearing human shape love Cook's Illustrated.
Also, I wish to make a note for my future reference. I like Kidd Lager from Fort Collins Brewing. Black lagers have the black toasted flavor of evil that I enjoy without the complex ferment-ity of an ale like a stout or porter. I was going to write a whole entry about the lager, but there was a problem and I deleted it by accident. So, that will be noted later.
