Light Fixed
Jul. 16th, 2008 11:34 amA little more than a week ago a friend of mine accidentally turned off the light in our bathroom in such a way that it could not be turned back on. See it had both a light switch and one of those pull chain things right on the fixture. Yesterday I purchased the items I needed down at the hardware store and proceeded to open up the fixture (with the switched taped off). Scary cloth wiring inside these walls. If I owned the place I think I would pull new wiring each time someone moved out so as to protect my investment against burning down. But after I removed and disassembled the fixture and failed to replace the part that was broken, I realized that I could just switch it permanently on and then remove the chain. So that's what I did and now the light in the bathroom works again. Everything is wrapped up nice with plenty of black electrical tape and I even replaced the leads off the fixture itself rather than putting back the bits of decaying '40s style wiring. And no shower of sparks, so it is all good.
