mishalak: A fantasy version of myself drawn by Sue Mason (The Alchemist)
There is a tentative change of plans. Provided all stays the same though Friday I will be on my way to Rome by way of Newark, back to Newark and then to Athens. It is a bit Rube Goldberg, but it is a free trip to Rome so I'm almost positive I'll go if I can. Though just being able to see it for one day, and a Sunday at that, is less than ideal.

Schedule
Friday Afternoon ~3pm Leaving Colorado, flight actually takes off at 5:35pm Arrives Newark late

Saturday the 14th: Awaken about 9am, breakfast. I have until about 2pm to do as I wish, but I absolutely must be back to the airport at 3pm in time to find where I need to be and check in two hours before a 5:25 flight. This is more complex since I'm going international.

Sunday the 15th: Arrive in the Eternal City at about 10:00am local time, hopefully after sleeping on the flight. Hotel then catch a subway to near the Colloseum. Take in the Roman Forum as much as I can in an hour, walk to the Pantheon. See the best preserved ancient building anywhere until they throw us out. Catch a late lunch. Fountains and the Vatican in the rest of the afternoon. Dinner (don't know where) and then catch some sleep.

Monday the 16th: Early breakfast, early flight. Reading Material a must. Arrive late afternoon in Newark. Much sleep needed I suspect. Unless I can't. Then perhaps a late evening in the City?

Tuesday the 17th: Here my plans rejoin the earlier ones at about 6:09pm. Instead I have a full day in New Jersey/New York. Maybe a museum and some people watching? I'm likely to be dead jet lagged, but I'll drag myself around for something. If the Rome trip falls through at the last minute I'll be reverting to the old plan of arriving at 6:09pm on this day and not doing anything too exciting that evening.

Wednesday the 18th: Free until 2:00pm, more or less. Must be at the airport no later than 3:00pm as previously, but this time for a 5:30pm international departure. There will definitely be one trip to the city to see a museum, a building, have lunch with someone, or just people watch. Either on my own or with family members like my mother.

Thursday the 19th: 10:20am Again I hope there will be sleep upon the flight the night before. I guess we'll go see the Acropolis of Athens. Or else a Museum of some sort. There will be more of those open given that it is a Tuesday instead of a Sunday as it will have been in Rome. But even one day in Rome for very little money is better than no days there, I think. (Or maybe not. I'm having second thoughts about the first part of this.)

Friday the 20th: Leaving Athens at 12:20pm, but that does not really leave much of any time to anything. Just off to the airport a full two hours before the flight. And due to the magic of time zones I'll be in Newark about 4:30pm (nearly the same time as back from Rome). Water cannons over the airplane and so on. Early flight the next day so I suspect I won't go out this night.

Saturday the 21st: Back to Colorado. 'round about noon local time. Going to DASFA at 6pm.

Anyone wish to meet on the evening of the 17th in the New York Area? Or have suggestions of what I should do there?
