Ten Days to Go
Dec. 15th, 2006 08:35 pmI love this time of year. Next to Halloween it is the biggest secular holiday. Sure the Christians keep trying to shove their religion back into it and debasing its essential winter festival nature with spirituality, but the majority of Christmas traditions are about as secular as they can be. They're national cultural events. The tree lightings, the present giving, the stockings, Santa Claus (who's image was invented by the Coca-Cola Corporation, you don't get much more American and secular than that), and all the rest. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and a Joyous Yule to all!
I got a present early today. New tires! Yes I'm a total weirdo for being jazzed about new tires. But I needed them.
