Lighting a Candle
Oct. 4th, 2006 01:10 pmI believe in human rights, no exceptions. I think they are both morally the right idea and the best practical way of handling people accused of the worst things imaginable, because innocent people are accused more often than anyone would like. I'm putting this in my journal because I hope to encourage my friends who don't have all the rights that other people do because they're gay, bisexual, kinky, considered strange, from the Middle East, or whatever.
If you don't believe that these people should have the same rights as others I ask that you stop and think for a while about your reasons. If you feel like this sort of post is a good idea I encourage you to pass it on.
(I recently severely criticized a chain post (better name than meme) going around on LJ. I didn't like its wording and so I tried to be funny about it. So I wrote what I think would have been a much more useful idea to have being passed around. No doubt someone else has already come up with such variations and it won't get the immediate visceral impact as the original, but there it is. I can do more than criticize.)
