Leftovers and Looking Forward
Jan. 4th, 2005 02:54 pmThere are plenty of movies in the theaters, as usual, though there are only a few that I'm actively looking to go see in anything but a really cheap showing. I've already seen The Incredibles and Finding Neverland, so that leaves me with A Series of Unfortunate Events for my inner child. Now don't get me wrong, Finding Neverland did satisfy my inner child, but it is mostly a movie dealing with things like death and not a perfect perkiness and light kid's movie.
I've heard mostly good things about Spanglish, which I was not interested in seeing originally because I thought it was just another Adam Sandler idiocy vehicle. I don't like most comedies and Adam Sandler just makes me want to beat someone to death.
Lastly I am mildly interested in a biopic, Ray, and one about the mysteries of the universe called What the <bleep> Do We Know!?.
Opening this month I'm looking forward to Aliens of the Deep, a documentary in 3D about the amazing creatures living on the mid ocean ridge from James Cameron. I expect it will be beautiful and fun to watch (in a mildly intellectual sort of way). February's Walk On Water has a premise that intrigues me a bit. Israeli intelligence officer on a mission to kill a Nazi war criminal ends up befriending his target's gay grandson. It may or may not be as interesting as the premise sounds, I'll have to wait and see. By March there are quite a few more I might decide to go see, including Be Cool, a Get Shorty sequel, and Ice Princess with Michel Trachtenberg as an aspiring ice skater amoung others.
Other than that I'll be going to cheap theater films and free films as the mood strikes me.
