A Garage or Basement

My parents have to move out of their house due to foreclosure. They're not going to be able to find a place to live until May due to everything that is going on and they have to be out by April 8. Anyone in the Denver Metro area have a garage or basement they're willing to volunteer from now until the end of July to store my grandmother's dinning room table, six chairs, and a sideboard? It is the same size as my current dinning table and so if I took it in I would then have the problem of what to do with my dinning table.

That's the big thing, but any space that they could beg for would be helpful. Like me my parents have box after box of books they're packing up.

I have some room in my basement that could be used to store books and other small items, but due to the weird arrangement of stairs and the unfinished nature of the space, there's not really any goo droom for furniture down there.

Maybe rent one of those storage units? They often have really low rents for the first month or two.

And I'm really sorry about your folks having to move out. I never got to visit their home, but I know it's sounded really nice from your mentions of it.

It's a possibility, but they have very little money right now. My father is job hunting and my mother is working as a teacher's aid. So they can, but that $200-300 a month would be really useful for keeping other things together. Like paying their meds and so on. Thanks for the offer of a place to put a few things. I'll let them know.

aw, man... that sucks.

I take it they can't afford a storage unit for the interim? I might be able to help with funding for that if need be...

let me know?

It's a money problem. They don't have much and there is not a strong prospect of good income in the near future, so a storage unit seems like a bad idea. It isn't a question of having no money, but trying to save every penny that can be saved.

They often have a good intro rate, but the average seems to be $1/foot or $200 for even a small one. So if they put things into it in march that's five months or about $600-1000.

well, if you don't have any other local options - call me. You helped me save my house. Least I can do is help save the family heirlooms. we can negotiate amounts once needs are determined. I might even be able to cover month to month for a bit if I can pay online.

I've got some space in my basement, I've stored furniture for folks before. Come over and take a look.

That would be great from what I remember of your basement. I do not think that the table could get down there (I seem to remember there being a sharp turn to get down the stairs), but for some other things it would be really useful.

Check the underside of the table, sometimes the legs can be unscrewed.

I'm pretty sure not, this is a big solid oak thing that my grandmother has owned since about 1940 and was made in about 1920. So not an absolute antique, but one where all the legs are tied together with cross pieces. But you could be right.
