Yes, Douglas Adams did books and I'm pretty sure he worked on the scripts for the TV series. Each time, however, he changed it, adding new plot elements and digressions into each version. I still like the original BBC radio series best, but they all have their plusses. The TV series, for instance, had Disaster Area, the rock band that played so loudly that they played their instruments by remote control from a bunker miles away. And the lead guitarist who was "spending a year dead for tax purposes." The technology wasn't really there to make Zaphod's second head convincing, and I didn't like the casting for Trillian at all, but there were definitely some really amusing parts of the TV series.
