mishalak: Mishalak wearing a furry hat in front of snowy pines. (SnowII)
Nearly the end of February. This means that I'm doing my taxes and thinking about my birthday. If, for some reason, you are thinking of giftifying I have a helpful list.

I know some people are all about the surprise, but even if that's the case you should read this to get an idea of the sort of thing I like.

I've also put most of this stuff on my Amazon wishlist (let me know if this link works), not that I recommend shopping there. I do not mind (in fact I prefer) second hand video discs and audio discs. Why? More value for money and I think buying used helps make the world a better place in a variety of ways. Including keeping money out the hands of the RIAA and MPAA. My philosophy is that good shopping is about the ratio of value to money. The higher the ratio is, the more value, the better a gift is. I'm impressed when someone can find something valuable for very little money. If you have money it is the easiest thing in the world to spend it, it is like drinking. Nothing easier than to get really drunk. The man who can spend hours enjoying a drink impresses me much more than the one who can chug a couple pints and sway in place.

Gah. It is already November 10th. So I need to create a gift list thingy for friends and family should they want to give me gifts. After all, it is about the dumbest thing on earth to make it hard for people to give one gifts if you would like to have them. I will open up comments to everyone so and turn off getting emailed comments so that anyone can claim a gift here. Please do so that no one doubles up.

Airline tickets to Hawaii to visit [livejournal.com profile] animazed. Yeah, Yeah, I'm dreaming, but as long as I'm dreaming round trip airfare to Novacon next year would be nice too.

Sunshine by Robin McKinley
In a new or very fine first edition hardcover this book runs $12.50 to $30.77 on biblio.com.

Mirror Dance by Lois McMaster Bujold there is a hardcover copy for $34.00 on biblio.com.

Gift membership to Library Thing $10 for a year, $25 for a lifetime

Anything from Redstone Meadery would be appreciated and can be found in many local liquor stores.

Loose leaf tea. Red tea, jasmine, or any variety of black.

Among homemade gifts my favorite are cookies, candies, and fruit cake.

That's it.

I'm not going to get comments on this entry mailed to me. I've got it unlocked so anyone can comment. After today I won't check back in until after Christmas, so you can talk without me learning what you guys are up to (if anything). I know it is only October, but I figure this is the month to get a list out there so that when you're shopping in December or November you already have it in hand. It is just an experiment type thing, we'll see how well it works. Maybe next year everyone will put up their Yuletide Wish List on Columbus Day.

Also I do have much of the media portions of this list on my Amazon wish list. I'm under Mishalak there as well.
